Greetings Friends and Neighbors,
We are one week away from Memorial Day. While the Memorial Day Parade that we’re all used to gathering for in town cannot happen, we are not letting that stop the parade…instead, the parade will come to you! A caravan of our fire, police and DPW vehicles will tour the town starting at 1:00 pm. Route details will be posted on both the township web site and the Cranbury Lion’s web site later this week.
Our public works, police and fire departments support us all year long. We want them to see and hear your support as they make their way through our neighborhoods – decorate your porches or front yards, bang pots and pans, do a TikTok dance in your front yard if that’s your thing!
In addition to being Memorial Day, it’s graduation season – if you have a graduate in your household, let them know with a sign in your yard so they can give you a special shout out!
We want everyone to be able to experience the celebration together even though we are apart. Take photos of you and your family enjoying the day and upload them to social media using the hashtag #cranburycelebrates. Extra bonus for tagging the Cranbury Lions if you’re posting on Facebook or Twitter. Make your posts public so we can aggregate them into an online photo collection to share with all of our neighbors.
As a reminder, The Lions are sponsoring an essay and poster contest for our K-8 kids. Submissions are due by this Wednesday to CranburyLionsClub1932@gmail.
Winners of this contest will be announced during my Memorial Day speech. Of course, this will not be the same as previous years either! You will be able to watch my Memorial Day message online starting Memorial Day morning at a link you’ll find on the township and Lion’s web sites.
I hope everyone will enjoy the new twist on our Memorial Day traditions this year.
Stay strong, stay healthy, and have a great week –
Mayor Matt Scott
